Only 1% of surveyed parents said drowning was a home safety concern, yet 9 of 10 childhood drownings occur under adult supervision. Drowning is the leading cause of death for children 1-4 and second leading cause of injury death for children 5-14.
Our little girl drowned because adults were not paying attention. Their gross negligence caused the horrific, preventable drowning death of the only child we had, 6-year-old Roxie. We did not drown her, but we should have demanded more answers before trusting this facility, which admitted to operating a scheme with the American Red Cross representative to fraudulently certify counselors as American Red Cross lifeguards. We now help others eliminate this deadly and wholly preventable outcome.
