ChildUSA Issues Report on Boy Scouts Child Molestation.
This is the first report on results from an analysis of the data collected through the Abused-In-Scouting questionnaire, which elicited data about demographics, abuse experiences, and circumstances surrounding abuse from 1,576 claimants against the Boy Scouts of America for allegations of sexual abuse as minors while in Scouts. This research examined responses from those victims who have come forward and are seeking reparations for the damages done to them. This study was conducted independently of the Abused-In-Scouting group. CHILD USA received no funding or monetary compensation for this study.

Sexual Abuse at Summer Camps Has Long Since Been Ignored. Meow Meow Foundation Wants to Change That.
The extraordinarily disturbing story of Camp Kanakuk is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to sexual abuse at children’s summer camps nationwide. The advocacy group known as No More Victims said, “Despite multiple indictments and convictions, the sex scandals surrounding Kanakuk have never received the attention needed to bring about real change. Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and significant financial settlements have concealed the truth in order to preserve a ministry brand and economic engine. For decades, Joe White and other camp leaders knew about and facilitated activities and behaviors that classify as sexual abuse against scores of children, a pattern that may continue to occur to this day. The same leadership is still at the helm.” Incidentally, Kanakuk became the center of attention for another undesirable reason when 82 reported cases of COVID-19 infected campers and staff last summer (2020).
Meow Meow Foundation addressed sexual abuse at camps in a previous article, but the organization is now devising means by which it will draw more attention to the issue including the reason why the American Camp Association has largely remained quiet on this topic, other than a few third party, self-serving articles on its website.
Governor and Public Health Department Endanger Children, Allow Day Camps to Open During COVID.
The state has released guidance today that allows day camps to reopen. The measures are largely generalized considerations, not mandatory health and safety policies, that children and communities deserve. Meow Meow Foundation believes that the guidance was produced in this lax manner because day camps are not regulated and therefore not required to abide any particular programming laws. MMF advised the governor’s office and CDPH in 2019, months before COVID-19 about potential effects of self-governing camps. Both offices failed to consult with MMF before issuing guidance.
California to allow day camps, schools, gyms, bars to reopen next week
The state will release guidance later Friday for counties to follow to reopen a broad range of businesses that have been closed since mid-March because of concerns about spreading the coronavirus, said Mark Ghaly, secretary of the California Health and Human Services agency.

The foundation submitted over 100 notices to top officials, including Governor Newsom, regarding the fact that California day camps that open during a pandemic are not licensed, not subject to oversight and not adequately prepared to battle potentially deadly circumstances.
